District
heating and cooling systems – together called district energy systems –
heat and cool multiple buildings in a given area. A district energy
system uses central plants to produce steam, hot water and/or chilled
water, which are piped underground to customer buildings. Customers then
use district energy to meet their space heating, domestic hot water,
process and/or air-conditioning needs.
Hartford Steam Co. customers can receive ready-to-use steam, hot water
or chilled water 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Heating and air
conditioning are always available.
